Itinery for april - 2 young kids - worried about safety

Im abit late at planning and have nothing booked apart from flights we land in PE and depart from Cape Town.

We are slightly worried about safety and were considering cancelling this trip as we will have a 3yr old and 5yr old with us and i ended up reading alot of scary forums about SA safety last night which i wasn't fully aware of before booking ! yes my fault i know. However two SA friends have tried to reassure us that if we follow all safety advice we should be ok.

2 nights near addo park

3 nights kynsea or plett bay (as a base)

2 nights Franschhoek or Stellenbosch

4 nights CT (not sure which area would be good ) If anyone can reccomend safe secure locations please let me know

I'm jealous! Follow advice and take precautions and you'll be fine.

Most of my experience in those areas is backpackers rather than family hotels so can't be of much help, but is there any reason you want to stay near rather than IN Addo? I stayed in two of their rest camps, a safari tent in one and a bungalow in the other and they were super, and I can imagine very exciting for small children! We booked directly with SAN Parks.

Oh and for CT, you can't go wrong as tourist with the Waterfront area.

Thank you, we managed to book a night inside the camp at Nyathi, it looks nice I think the kids will love it 🥰 still need to find somewhere else for the 2nd night in addo but there are quite a few even outside the park so we will see ! Thanks for the tip
