Rhodes in mid May - reassure me!

We went to Rhodes last September at the end of the month and the weather was perfect for us and our 2YO

We've booked the same resort again for ten nights on 11 May and I'm now panicking after looking into the weather in May a bit more. I know Corfu etc in May can be risky but I just assumed Rhodes would be warm. I've been in June before and it was too hot so I thought May would be ideal but most things I read say it might be cold on a night and could be cold during the day too.

Any reassurance or should I try and change the dates?

We went to Rhodes in early May a few years ago. The weather was lovely, warm enough for shorts and tshirt, a bit of sunbathing, but the pools and sea were really cold. We went into Rhodes Town, and hired a car to drive around the island and the weather was perfect for this. We had one overcast day with a bit of rain but I think that’s to be expected.

We had a great time and I wouldn’t be put off going at this time in future.

Sea temperatures will be a lot lower in May, if that's something to consider for you?
I imagine May in Rhodes would probably be lovely weather apart from that- and if you don't mind it being a bit cooler in evenings.

Unless you've booked somewhere with a heated pool, swimming pool temperatures will vary a bit too. Depends on how big they are and if they are in full sun all day or partially shaded. I have always found them to be on the cool side at May half-term.

@Letsnotargue that sounds lovely. We are planning to hire a car for a few days and drive around. A little worried about the pools as my LO loves splashing about all day but was mainly concerned that we'd misjudged it entirely. I think I just expected it to be a similar temp to when we went at the end of September which is a bit silly really

@SundaySighing not as worried about the sea but was hoping the pools will be ok. Keeping fingers crossed!

@TeamGeriatric pools are in full sun but hoping they will be bearable!

@AuntieMarys this was my worry! I've been in June before and it was really hot but would be too hot for my little one (and probably me as I'm currently pregnant!) I thought mid May might be a more sensible time
