Ideas needed please for March /April trip to the US

We have return flights booked; we know we need to start in Mississippi for a few days and we know we want to finish up in Nashville.

We have 7/8 days in between.

We will have a car; any suggestions for an interesting trip?

Whereabouts in Mississippi? Oxford is a pretty college town. New Orleans is drivable from most parts of the state. From Oxford you've got Memphis about an hour away.

We’re staying in West Point.
We’ve already been to Memphis but I’ll definitely take a look at Oxford now.
