Oxford for couples

Hi

Please give me lots of ideas as to what we can do in Oxford for a few days next week.

We'd like a posh meal, but not one that breaks the bank.

We're happy to go to a couple of museums, but not spend all the time in them.

And we're not wanting to drive out to Blenheim or Bicester village.

Looking forward to your suggestions 😁

Wandering round is fun (Christchurch, river). Pitt Rivers museum. Ashmolean. Shops are nice for a wander round. Enjoying the architecture: visit a college that is open to visitors (don't know off the top of my head when / where). Eat a sandwich in the covered market. Get coffee. Very easy to mooch in Oxford.

The Ivy is nice for a posh meal, or the Folly, or you could go for an amazing Thai at Chiang Mai. You can visit the Castle, do indoor crazy golf, indoor cricket (not tried this but people say it’s fun), go on the tourist bus tour (not actually that expensive), Busch the Nat hist museum (love it there) or the Pitt Rivers museum. Mooch around Christ Church, the Botanic Gardens, or visit other colleges. You can climb up carfax tower to see the view/dreaming spires too.

Catch a bus up to Headington and see the famous shark. (Google Headington shark).

Plus all the city centre stuff already suggested.

Outside of the colleges ‘posh’ dining experiences aren’t really the thing Oxford does best - you’d have more fun somewhere on Cowley Road or at

or

both of which are locally adored.

is one of the loveliest places on the planet. And The Ashmolean is unmissable - and becomes more compelling the higher up you go.
