Has anyone used Vrbo? Is it safe/reliable?

I’ve found the perfect villa in Kalkan for this years holiday but it’s through Vrbo which I haven’t used before and some of the reviews I’ve read are putting me off!

Has anyone on here had experience of booking through them?

Yeah we did last year, large villa in Spain for 23 of us. No problems at all.

We used them as Home Away which was their previous iteration. They were fantastic.
We had properties in Long Island, Australia, Algarve and more.
All v good.

Used Vebo for a house in Sweden in 2019. No probs.

Used them loads of times with no problems. They’re owned by a bigger company, Expedia I think? They’ve been around for years previously called HomeAway.

Are they good if things go wrong? i.e. customer support or do you just deal with the owner and VRBO is just the platform for availability?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 09/02/2025 17:38

Yes, we've used them for years, previously as HomeAway. (Did HomeAway take over Owners Direct? If so we've used for around 20 years).
