Long advanced planning to go on a special holiday to celebrate my 40th and dd's 18th in a couple of years. However due to exams and my work commitments were limited to July / August. Ordinarily we'd have done the Caribbean but it's wet season then but we want somewhere "paradisey"! Any recommendations? Family of 5.

Caribbean still on in wet season as long as you avoid anywhere known for hurricanes!
Not the same thing but as a huge Caribbean fan I can recommend Croatia for quality of hotels and overall experience. Or do something different like Canada or Australia.

Parts of Thailand are dry in July/August

Sri Lanka, rainy season is over by mid July. Lots of variety to suit whole family and fairly reasonable once there

We're going to Malysia (KL/Borneo/Langkawi). We fancied Thailand but the weather seemed better in Malaysia that time of year.

If you did want the Caribbean, Aruba is outside the hurricane belt so great to go to in July/August too. Beautiful island.

But I love a good road trip, USA is a great country to explore by road and you can include a bit of 'paradise ' in there too.

Is Dubai unbearable in July? We could potentially do May too there.

Dubai is way too hot in July - Salalah in Oman is around 29 degrees.

Indonesia is def paradise, I’d do a 2 or 3 location tour. Some time on a house boat on Komodo was one our my DC favourite experiences.

We are headed to Thailand this Aug ! Koh Samui and surrounding islands have good weather at this time

Yes Maldives is definitely a contender!
