Please could any Miami experts tell me 1) when is the best time of year to visit and 2) when and where to book flights? Accommodation not needed, this is for DS who will be staying with a friend - so budget flight ideas would be welcome! Thank you.

Norse Atlantic are a budget airline that fly LGW to Miami. Not the best service but usually the best price. Quite a decent website that enables you to see the lowest price times. Sometimes BA prices are reasonable especially if you book in advance and fly at a less busy time.

Weather is lovely all year round in Miami. A little cooler in winter but that means mid 20s so still lovely for us. Hurricane season July-November so best avoided.

How old is DS?. I ask only if he needs to be present at college or university during term time.

I would advise flying direct into Miami airport rather than going indirect. See what American Airlines, BA or Virgin offer.

Late spring is a good time to go rather than high summer.

Do not use Norse; they have no real contingency in place in event of delay so you’re on your own . Cheap is not always cheerful.

Sorry, should have said. DS is 21 and at University. His summer term will end this year at the end of May and then he'll go back in late September. So, effectively he has 4 months off! Can that be right?

Yes, that's Uni terms! Gives them time to work. Or laze around, depending which variety you have 🤣Some students will always also have to go in in August to do resits. If I were him, I would aim to go at the start of the holidays.
