Hello, first time posting and I'm looking for some advise/tips on a potential trip to Vietnam (Jan 26).
We would be flying in and out of HCMC and spending 10-14 days. It would be our first long haul trip (visiting fanily who are working there).
Is it best to fly at through the day or night?
Has anyone done a trip here that would share places/hotels/beaches they visited, any does and don't.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My best advice would be… don’t go! The long plane journey trying to keep them in a seat for that long would tip me over the edge 😂 the hot, sticky weather, the food, children go strange with food on holiday… I’ll stop now, hopefully someone with more patience than me will be along soon and give you better advice

Hi OP, no advice but I'm interested too. Would love to go there and my youngest DC is 5. I'd probably fly through the night so he can sleep, but he is a good flyer anyway.

If you are going direct to HCMC, then time difference plus flight length means you are almost certainly going to be on the plane overnight. When we have gone to Thailand/Singapore/onwards to Australia with kids, I prefer to take a day flight UK - Dubai sleep in airport hotel at Dubai, Dubai to SE Asia on another day flight, only on the basis that the kids rest better in a bed than on a plane. There is no ideal solution, and this day flight approach can add a lot of travel time. Totally worth the effort of the journey once you get there though. Vietnam is great, haven't been with kids though. Phu Quoc seems to be the main place to head for beaches. We really enjoyed both Hoi An and Hue.

I going in November, although not with a child. Flights I am doing is with Qatar airways. Manchester to Doha mid afternoon flight, then fly from Doha to Ho Chi Mhin City late evening from Doha and arrive late morning.

Agree with above, Phu Quoc island is a good place for doing beach at that time of year.

Vietnam was the family holiday destination of choice for a lot of Aussie families I know a few years back (now it is Japan). Everyone absolutely loved it and found it very child friendly, I would probably do a night flight with that age in the hope that he would sleep.
