Sardinia

Probably been asked before but recommendations for which resort in Sardinia to go to.

Am treating my friend for her birthday, she is of an age now where we need it to be pretty flat for walking around, not rocky etc.

Just a week of chilling. Requirements would be good standard of hotel (4/5 star), good pool area, near to one of the lovely beaches would be great. Evening - somewhere close to wander down with a selection of bars/restaurants (even better if on the seafront) where we can relax with a lovely meal and bottle of vino!

Thank you for anyone that is kind enough to help me x

Have a look at the Delphina hotels, I really like Capo d’Orso, but DH says Cala di Falco also good - may be flatter and more connected for you. Really good, caring small chain with a personal touch.

Villa Las Tronas in Alghero is good for a night or two.

We;ve stayed at Cala di Falco and really liked it. Cannigione is small but hotel is right by the beach and there are plenty of restaurants - food at the hotel was very nice too. They do excursions / boat trips from there. We did hire a car for a couple of days to go to Baia Sardinia and Capriccioli (stunning beach)

I've only visited Alghero on the East coast and Castel Sardu in the North, not the swisher west coast but loved Alghero, have been twice ad would go again. Stayed in apartments not a hotel but the place itself is nice and relaxed, lots of places to ear and nice beaches.

Thank you both for your messages

The East and West coasts are very different, Costa Smerelda on the East very affluent, pricey. West Coast more rugged and relaxed.

This is so good to know, I have booked a 2 bed apartment at Cala di Falco in May.

Hope you have a lovely time. I want to go back. We had a self catering apartment but booked breakfast in the hotel and had lunch / dinner there quite often during our stay.

@MissAmbrosia I am just waiting for the hotel to confirm their breakfast prices for this year to see if it's worth it ( bringing 18 year old DS so he can eat his own body weight in eggs). Is there a good selection?

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 08/02/2025 20:50

I was just wondering when you are planning to go ? We holidayed just inland of Olbia / Costa Smerelda a couple of years back in September and found that many things were closed down in the resort towns eg we struggled to find restaurants open for lunch. The inland towns were fine but the resorts built around the marinas were pretty dead (unless they came alive in the evening when we had headed back to our villa!)

Porto Rotondo area is absolutely amazing. A real authentic Italian feel there and the beaches are stunning

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 08/02/2025 23:08

Porto Rotondo was one of the places where it was pretty deserted in late September though, with restaurants not open (in the day time anyway). I think there must be a definite season there.

Thank you so much everyone for your replies. Will check out these resorts. We are going end June/start July xx

Yes - a good selection. They also did a buffet type brunch / lunch option as I remember. We didn't pre-book, just booked at the hotel. The upstairs resto you could reserve for and was particularly nice as I remember - as well as a place just round the corner near the beach where we had roast suckling pig. I think that was one of the nicest things I ever ate - apologies to veggies...

I've never been, but always like to try local foods. I think this cheese, though, would be an acquired taste! 😬

@Morley19 hi, just wondered how you found Cala di Falco and how your holiday was in general? Considering for this summer!

rookiemere · 03/01/2026 12:22

@GoodLuckBabe here’s a picture of my tripadvisor review, gave it 4/5 for the apartments.
