Hello,

DH and I are going to Prague in March, we’ve currently have the Mandarin Oriental booked, but I hear some of the reviews are a bit mixed now, wondering if anyone who’s been locally can recommend a really lovely hotel in Prague or should we stick with what we’ve got? It’s for an anniversary so happy to splurge.

We stayed at The Mozart, in an executive suite with a view of the bridge and castle, It was lovely, superb location.

We stayed in the U Tri Pstrosu (3 ostriches) about 20 years ago. It's in a fantastic location, right next to the Charles Bridge. I see it has good reviews on Tripadvisor.

I remember the food being really good too .

I’m jealous I love Prague. Any notecard good as you will be out all day. One of the best apps is the PID app. It shows you your tram/ metro route and numbers and you can buy and activate your ticket on there. You must have a validated ticket BEFORE boarding the transport or you will possibly be fined.

We like The Julius in Prague. They have lovely suites and it's very central. Fab breakfast too. Would recommend.

We stayed at the Augustine - it's an old monastery. It's on the castle side of te river, so nice & quiet at night & you get to walk across the Charles Bridge every time you go to the old town, which is lovely.

We stayed at the Cosmopolitan in 2018, it was absolutely lovely. Huge bathroom with freestanding tub. Nice rooms. Excellent breakfast. Walking distance to astronomical clock et al.

For something different the Mooo apartments are in a beautiful old building. They’re serviced daily, but gives you so much freedom.
We ate at the Mandarin Oriental on Christmas Day. The food was very good, but the place was a little soulless. We much preferred Andaz Prague the year before.

Thanks so much all, lots of options to check out!

I was in Prague recently but we went cheap and cheerful so can’t give you a personal recommendation.

I tend to avoid chain hotels now unless travelling for business. I prefer to stay in more authentic local type hotels.

The Iron Gate Hotel is on my list for the next time we go to Prague.

My activity recommendation is to buy one of the 9 towers tickets, it’s a great way to see the city - including an old Soviet spying post at the top of a cathedral tower!
The only tower you need to book online in advance is the Klemetinium

I stayed at the Four Seasons the New Year before last and enjoyed it, the spa area is very nice.
For my 50th a few years ago I stayed at two hotels, one was called Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa and that was very nice but the location was quite as good as The Four Seasons. I also stayed at The Kings Court Hotel which is 5 star but only just in my opinion. It has a lovely spa and the treatments were really good.
I don’t think you could go wrong with any of the five star hotels, especially if you choose somewhere close to Charles Bridge.

Hi! We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental last year - think it was June. It was really lovely!

Thischarmlessgirl · 09/02/2025 20:41

@Pleasestopthebunfight thank you! That’s good to know 😊

The Alchymist. We had a good deal via booking.com but we only really needed it for one night. It's a beautiful hotel, it was worth it for the experience. Luxury Hotel in Prague | Alchymist Grand Hotel and Spa
