Looking for a Greek island

We are looking somewhere to take our teens in September before they start university. We used to love Sifnos and Meganissi but feel they are too quiet for our teens. We love Chania and its surrounding towns but have been there three times with the children. We have also done different Ikos resorts near Halkidiki.
We are after somewhere lovely and authentic where we can either stay in a hotel or a villa near the action and Greek tavernas. We don't mind if the island doesn't have an airport as we sometimes find the ones without are less touristy. Would love to hear of any recommendations

Look at Parga, it's on the mainland but feels like an island and lots of boat trips to other islands. My favourite place.

I'll definitely look at Parga. Do you stay in a hotel or villa there?

Kassiopi, Corfu although might be a bit quiet - what level of “action” do your teens want? It has tavernas and cafes/bars and a promenade but not really “nightlife” beyond that.

Skiathos Town and nearby, Naxos town and nearby would be worth checking out.

Thassos has gorgeous beaches and lovely towns. You get there by ferry from the mainland.

Thanks for all these great recommendations - would love to hear of any hotels or villas you can recommend on any of the islands. Something close to a town/ local tavernas etc

We've stayed in all sorts of different accommodation, all been good. Id just look at what's available as a package..

Rhodes? Something for everyone there
We went to Kassiopi last year as a result of recommendations here. It’s pretty but it was too quiet for us especially if you don’t want to hire a car. We are 50s/60s

I'd wait until the seismic activity around Santorini calms down before booking anywhere.

Naxos?
Koufinisi is a very small island but with a bustling main street
We loved staying at Nysis hotel here.

Also, Paros, specially Naoussa, would be great with teens.

or Tinos Chora. There are so many gorgeous beaches and villages to drive to.

Kos
Kos town or Kardamena.
