Will cancelling Amex card cancel companion voucher?

Just that really, want to cancel card to not be charged £300 but can't use the voucher until later this year.

Ah that's brill thank you, sounds like if I downgrade to the free one it'll protect it but sounds safe either way (as we'll still have an Amex for the booking).

No it won't. I cancelled as soon as I got my companion voucher last summer and still have the voucher in my BA account. Plan to spend it this year.

I paid the pro rata annual fee for the 5 months I had the card.

@roses2 do they pro rata refund you if you don't keep the card the whole year?

Yes I paid the card fee in full and they gave me a pro rata refund when I cancelled.

Amex don't do the pro rata refunds any more, or at least they didn't the last I heard.
