Early special holiday planning

A couple of years ago, MN helped me plan the most fantastic family holiday, it was Germany in December. Not too expensive, but some very memorable experiences like a caste hotel stay. We all refer to it as the best holiday ever.

So now I’m looking for suggestions again. We’re saving for our next one, the ‘children’ are now young adults and we’ll probably include their boyfriends in this trip, so 6 adults in total. September 2026. I’m thinking a barge on the Loire river for 4/5 days with bicycles for day trips. Followed by 4 or so days somewhere in rural France? But then I’d also really like to see Budapest? After this time together my DH and I will probably have another week or so in Europe to do something without the expensive youths. We’re coming from Australia, so it’s a big expense, but it’s for a special birthday, and we really value these times together! Any European suggestions for the group size happily received! Thank you

If you fancy a canal trip - i can really recommend the one through the Camargue - not many locks, beautiful scenery with wild horses and flamingos and some nice beach resorts thrown in. https://www.leboat.com/boating-vacations/france/camargue maybe followed by some time in Provence.

Camargue

Camargue boasts golden beaches, wild white horses and pink flamingoes. Discover this magical French region by boat.

Thank you, I’ll definitely look into that, I’m embarrassed to admit that I’ve not even heard of Camargue before!
