I love France but have really only been to the south of France and would like to visit another area taking my adult children and a small toddler grandchild.
Was hoping it would be warm enough to swim possibly get an apartment or a villa with a pool.
Where should I begin looking?
Looking at Bordeaux but it's overwhelming
We would hire a car but would like to walk to restaurants etc in the evening
Grateful for any advice

We used to have a mobile home down that way. Have a look at Ronce Les Bains for a typical French 'bucket and spade' holiday. Ile D'oleron is also great with fantastic beaches and lower key than Ile De Re but you do you have to pay a toll know every you time you go over the Island. Both around 45 mins from La Rochelle aiport.

A bit further down La Palmyre, St Mathes and St Georges Didione also great holiday locations, very French, and you are in easy reach of Bordeaux if you want to visit. All on the Cote Sauvage, so Atlantic, sea may not be particularly warm!

Vannes in Brittany? Average temp is 23ish in July/August. It's got a lovely city centre and cathedral, and is a 1hr30 drive to Nantes (bigger city), or an hour train ride.
