Requirements:

  • family friendly for DD6
  • AirBNB or the like - so we can self cater and have space to ourselves, we like to sit out in a patio/terrace when DD has gone to bed
  • ideally a pool, again for DD
  • sunny
  • not too hectic - not interested in v v v touristy places
  • bonus points for being affordable, not needing a car, being an easy journey from the UK, having lots of easy things to do on the doorstep

We had our first foreign holiday with DD last year, a week in Marrakesh, and it worked well. Easy flight, no need for a car, lots of interest on the doorstep and a house to ourselves so that we got to relax after DD's bed time.

Keen for some other ideas!!

Sanguli Salou is a very short transfer from Reus airport, and it's also possible to get a transfer from Barcelona airport. There's lots to do on the doorstep without a car, including the PortAventura parks. The villas there were surprisingly nice considering how reasonable they were.

Eurocamp / Siblu etc? You get your space and a deck to sit out on?

Sounds like you want a city, not necessarily a coastal spot, there are nice cities on the coast like Lisbon, people seem to like Stiges, which gives access to Barcelona. Porto was very affordable. Otherwise places like Seville or Grenada have the nice town vibes, if you can find a place with a pool.

Thanks all.

I'm anti social so anything like Eurocamp sounds hideous to me! Also not keen on a city really - years of living in cities, I crave fresh air, views and sea/mountain/lake on holiday. Marrakesh did work as we were in the old town - so not modern/traffic/high rise, but I'd prefer a small town vibe. Spain - I struggle with the lifestyle - I am not a late night person!

Sorry - being very difficult.

So far looking at Estonian coast, Alps, German lakes etc but being a bit aimless!
