Best holiday in the UK with young kids

We are looking for a UK holiday this summer with my three children aged 5/4/1 and a dog. We live in Cumbria so spent lots of time in the lake District, we have also spent a fair amount of time on the north east coast but looking for somewhere different this year, ideally within 4 hours from Cumbria. So my question is where has your best family holiday been that also ticks my boxes?

Thank you 😊

Isle of Wight

Go to Robin Hill and Blackgang Chine as well as Monkey world and the usual IoW stuff

The beaches are lovely especially Bembridge which has a lovely caravan park if that's what you're after called something like away resorts ?!? With outdoor cinema etc

Also getting there by ferry feels exciting for DC

It sounds lovely but it's an 8 hour drive to the port from where I live which I don't want to do with small children X

We love Cornwall, lots of beaches, outdoor activities and weather is usually gorgeous in summer. The beaches look like somewhere tropical when the weather is good.

Scotland?

Stirling castle is amazing, Edinburgh has loads. Lots of lochs and walking.

Honestly I’d go to centre Parcs Nottingham if I was you, plenty to do, not too far away you can take a dog and the accommodation is great for a family. I think you’d have a stress free holiday as it’s all planned around families

Northumberland ? Bamburgh is the nicest place. We've been loads when the DC were younger and it's their favourite place, they like it better than going abroad.

Tenby in Wales? Not been for years, but it was a lovely holiday with young children.

Aviemore with a couple of nights in Edinburgh on the way there or back.
North Wales for castles and beaches and steam trains.
Northumberland for unspoilt beaches, castles and a day trip into Newcastle or Edinburgh by train.
Ayrshire coast - relatively undiscovered by non-uk tourists so quieter than the highlands (and a lot cheaper!) and you can get short ferry journeys to places like Arran, Bute or Cumbrae.

Given where you live would probably say Scotland is better bet

You could do Centre Parcs near Penrith ( obviously very close ) and take enough food for the entire holiday.
Book every activity , get about with bike hire and not leave the place for the week !

North Wales loads to see and do

East Lothian. Lots of beaches, Sea Bird Centre in North Berwick, East Links Family Park near Dunbar, easy train links into Edinburgh.
