Turkey with a baby

Hi all

Looking for a holiday to suit a large extended family with lots of conflicting priorities 🫠 and I know Turkey is great value for money, had a lovely holiday there a few years ago.

I now have a what will be 10mo baby when we go, and someone has mentioned to me that they wouldn't take a baby to Turkey because their hospitals aren't very good if the worst happens and the baby gets sick (eg food poisoning).

Anyone got any experience or words of wisdom on this? Travel insurance would cover private hospital care but would it be up to scratch?

Thanks!

Turkey has excellent medical care if you have insurance. Probably better than the NHS tbh as you'll be seen quicker and treated better. I had a brilliant experience at the private Lokman Hekim Esnaf hospital.

I recommend the Hilton Dalaman. Brilliant set up for all ages. Food is delicious. They have a lovely baby room with toys etc. There's a mini farm for the little ones, splash pool, park etc. If you download the app you can order baby equipment to your room for free. The staff are lovely and so child friendly.

I was married to a Turk and took my children when they were 3 months old onwards. As long as you have holiday medical insurance the private hospitals are very, very good. I spent 3 nights in hospital when I had vertigo and the care was superb. Most hospitals have English speaking liaison officers and most of the doctors and nurses speak English. Turkish people love babies and the only thing I will say is that be prepared for them to make a lot of fuss of your child and if you are wary of that you need to let them know.
In May/June it will start get pretty hot so keep the baby well hydrated and put them in the shade.
I have had no issues taking my babies to Turkey so I say go and enjoy your holiday!

Yeah the Turkish hospitals are far superior to the UK. Go and have a great holiday!
