Ideas needed

I have a week to celebrate my 30th - to go anywhere leaving from Paris. I don't like safaris, I love city breaks and I don't mind travelling far. I'd like to go somewhere where it's no so easy to go with kids. Any recommendations?

Ah sorry - in August. Doesn't have to be a city, just something that I might find easier without kids. Budget is £2-3k.
