Going at half term. Single parent, 2 kids 12 and 9. Have plans for the day. Any recommendations of evening activities? We are staying in West end. I have a car. Any good food recommendations too?

Coro Chocolate Cafe for something a bit different (they do savoury options too if you're not all chocolate people!), just make sure you book as they get busy.

Camera obscura is open late in the school holidays? Mercat tours ghost walking tour?

What you after food wise? How adventurous are the kids? The city centre is sadly full of chains but loads of great options a short walk away.
Driving in the city is (appropriately) a nightmare but the buses are excellent compared to anywhere outside London.

Pretty adventurous. Happy to walk too if there is good food at the end!

Lane 7 at the St James for bowling, golf etc. An easy walk from the West end

Taco Libre in the west end is fun (but tiny).
konje is a new Persian place just next to the Lyceum theatre that has gotten great reviews.
If you’re looking for nice brunch type options I really rate Loudons (there are two branches) and they have lots of Scottish twists on eggs benny etc. There’s one just off the Royal Mile.
Mother India is always a popular option (near uni if you’re going to the National Museum).

Mary kings close on the royal mile.
