Turkey - where to go

Never been to Turkey before and am going around in circles here trying to decide where to go. This is what we like. Has anyone any suggestions? There's just me and DH.

Villa with private pool. No big hotel resorts.
Close to a pretty town (walking distance). Prefer a bit of history rather than newly constructed resorts
Mountain backdrops but walking distance to beach

We'll be going early July for a week. Probably not have a car.

The Dalaman area sounds perfect for you. Either that or Kalkan / Kas. Both beautiful and mountainous. The only thing you may struggle with is walking distance to a beach but Turkey often has great dolmus bus services which are cheap as chips and very very frequent.

Thanks. What is the difference between Kalkan and Kas? Do they have different vibes? Is one place more expensive than the other?

I have been to Kas and it is truly stunning. It's not touristy but at the same time there is enough to do. It doesn't have a beach as such but there are lots of beach type bars with piers over the water with sunbeds and entrances into the sea. The water is crystal crystal clear.

I haven't been to Kalkan but it's not far so perhaps you could visit both?
