Hi

Has anyone been to Croatia? If so, where do you recommend? We have a 10 year old DS and a 4 year old DD.

Ideally a private villa with pool near a sandy beach and with places to visit. But we have very little cash as just finished house extension!

Dubrovnik seems good??

Dubrovnik is just gorgeous. Try googling villa adriatica for a gorgeous place to stay. No pool but right near a beach and on city walls. Beats local hotels with a big stick.

One problem... croatia only has a couple of sandy beaches but hundreds of peeble ones.
Planning permission laws are such that you have to be 1km in land before you can realistically build a pool, or is can be tiny, but what' the point in that?

Try this place: www.littlevinisce.com. It is in a quiet village with a beach and a small harbour (mainly yachts and a couple of local fishing boats). you would need a car though because it is a good place for day trips to explore the region and without a car you just wouldn't see things e.g. trogir (20 misn away). The nearest airport is Split (easyJet and Croatian Airlines plus some charter flights) but Zadar is about 50 mins away (Ryanair).
