Zafiro Hotels/Similar?

Hi everyone!

Looking to book our first abroad holiday this summer, has anyone been to the Zafiro hotels or somewhere similar? We’ve been looking at Majorca/Menorca/Spain mainland as we are keen for a shorter flight.

We will have children aged from 4 - 9 so are looking for lots to do, but also high quality food etc for us adults! 😂

Would also love somewhere to wander to, like a little town within walking distance with shops and cafes etc.

I’m also open to new suggestions, if anyone has been anywhere that they absolutely loved?

Thanks in advance! x

In Majorca, which I know reasonably well, there are Zafiro hotels in Peguera, Santa Ponsa, Palmanova, Can Picafort, Playa de Muro, and Puerto Alcudia. There isn't a whole lot to choose between those towns: They are all well-developed tourist resorts with sandy beaches and lots of shops/restaurants/bars but not a whole lot of authentic Spanish charm, although from the port of Alcudia to the old town isn't too far, and Playa de Muro is even more tourist-dominated (but it does have an even nicer beach). Don't expect wizened locals strumming on guitars in the town square while an occasional dog wanders past. There will be lots of British tourists in most of them, perhaps fewer in Peguera which is more aimed at Germans, but you will meet lots of nationalities wherever you go. You can have a fabulous family holiday in any of those places and take excursions (or a hire car, or even the local buses) to the prettier parts of the island.

There are several other Spanish chains you could look at for the top of the 4* range: Melia, Hipotels, Iberostar's "Selection" brand.

I came to mention Zafiro Tropic in Port d’Alcudia.
Across the road is the Garden ApartHotel. We’ve stayed in both. Zafiro wins on pool choices.
old town is 25 mins walk with kids, past Roman settlement site plus lots of narrow streets , town walls and such.
Great shallow beach too.
Posher is the Zafiro Palace 10mins walk away.
Buses are cheap and tap on/off.
Puerto Pollensa and old town Pollensa are a nice day trip and if you’re feeling energetic try the 400 steps up to the small church in old town Pollensa.
