Pending charge from car hire company abroad

We booked a hire car for an upcoming holiday in Spain (a few months away ). They took out £350 approx and then there is the same amount (one penny difference ) that's been sitting in 'pending ' for 4 days. Bank says to contact the car hire company. DH has emailed them twice but not heard anything back
Can anyone kindly advise if this is normal or not.

It's likely the pending amount will drop off soon. This often happens when the pending and charged amounts don't exactly match.

In this case it's likely to be a slight shift in the exchange rate between the initial payment and it being taken from your card. It also happens when you buy petrol from an automated machine and it reserves £100 but then you only fill up with £60 of petrol - the £100 pending will hang around for a few days before disappearing.
