Hi . Anyone able to give me some advice I sent 2 passport renewal I done paper copy as I'm waiting to get my phone renewed so at the moment without a phone only one I can use till mine fixed. So opted for paper copy anyone know the process done it through check and send and post office and it tracked and said it been delivered ain't heard nothing back off the passport office yet it's been a week is this normal as I'm hoping I could get them back by April as we going away
Is it me being paranoid or is it a process and takes long

My husband had to send his paper copy. Took about 5 weeks to get it back.

I've just done a new passport application for my son, and some renewals too for those of us that already had passports - all done online, but was less than 1 week from application to receiving the passport!

Paper will be slower, (and more expensive - might have been better going to a library to use their computer) but I wouldn't expect it to be that much slower than digital. Hopefully you'll get stuff back in a few weeks!

I'm just worried it not going to get here. You can't even track them after it been delivered till it gets put on the system. So it a waiting game at the moment just want them back I got 16 weeks.

If you’ve had the notification it’s been delivered that’s good, it means you know it is just working through the system.

I assume a paper application is checked manually which makes it slower than digital. But if digital is only taking a week, I am sure manual won’t take more than a few weeks.

Yes. I renewed mine online but even with that it took a few days for them to acknowledge receipt, which only happens once they actually start to process the application. After that things worked quickly.

Ok thank you I won't have to send documents as it all done in one the application and documents so I'm hoping i will here soon no News is good news I suppose

I understand you worrying, as I'd be the same. It's difficult waiting when it's for something so important, but it's sure to be fine.

Thank you I know it's going to take 5 months to.come back it's just the unknown I've known people to have it back without even notifying then on anything

They're super quick right now on digital ones. I applied for DDs renewal last Tues evening (14th). Was verified by someone known to me electronically on weds Am. I was asked to post old passport back, which I did weds lunch. Got a text on Thursday saying received. Text yesterday saying it was approved. And now got a message today saying printed and on its way back to me to arrive tomorrow.
I know it says paper takes slightly longer and they advised the turnaround time of three weeks for electronic applications, so maybe another one or two max for paper.

I followed this obsessively in 2023 when I (stupidly) left ours too late! All of them weee back in less than 2 weeks, including the one I’d made an error on 🥰

That's good then think I'm.worryimg over nothing maybe I'll here next day or two all it saying at the moment is been delivered so let's just wait maybe I won't here as all documents are with application as I had it checked. So fingers crossed.
