Where to go for joint 50th birthday celebration?

Just that really! Planning a week long holiday with 5 school friends for our joint 50th birthdays (just us, leaving partners & kids at home). We don’t mind spending a bit of money as we’ve got time to save. We ideally want somewhere where we can do a bit of sightseeing/activity plus a bit of relaxing. We’re so far looking at Morocco & Iceland. Any other suggestions?

I did Seville in similar circumstances and it worked really well.

I love Iceland but it’s not very chilled. There is a lot to pack in. I also like Seville.

Rome, New York, Singapore, Miami.

Would it matter if any of you have been there before?

Agree with Rome. Italy generally

I went to the Caribbean with my bestie. We had a fab time. Highly recommended.

Are you looking for a hotel/villa based holiday with pool, sunshine, relaxing and then some places for day trips? Or a city-based break with lots of sightseeing?

Hotel or self-catering? Package or booking flights and hotel separately? Are you restricted to where you can fly from?

Any places that you've already crossed off the list?

Tuscany is gorgeous.

Prague

I'd look at Sicily or Sorrento.

samarrange · 19/01/2025 22:18

Which month?

Verite1 · 20/01/2025 00:10

When are you going? That would make a difference to my suggestions. And what sort of weather are you hoping for?

Summerbay23 · 20/01/2025 07:55

Budapest- we had a brilliant time- can relax in the various spa baths.

crumpet · 20/01/2025 08:15

What about a cruise?

I agree about Prague. It's nowhere near as tacky as you might have thought. It has great sightseeing and the food is generally excellent
