Weekend away within 2 hours drive of London

Can anyone recommend a hotel or self catering to stay in for a weekend away within 2 hours of London. Don't want somewhere too expensive so Wooley Grange, Ickworth probably out of range for this trip - been there and they are lovely but wanting somewhere nice but prob unfortunately no so luxurious this time. If possible we would like a pool and baby listening or babysitter. We have kids age 2 and 4.

We stayed here a few months ago with 2 dc - the children were very welcome - they gave us monitors so we could have dinner on our own and sit in the bar. We stayed in the Leckhampton with was quite a big room even with a cot and z-bed.

What about Colchester - plenty of nice hotels and activities to do during the day

How about Dorset-little over 2 hrs though-I suspect-lovely beaches, Corfe Castle's lovely. Not from London so unsure of logistics re: distance.

The Evesham Hotel is nice - slightly eccentric, but very welcoming to children (loads and loads of toys inside and out, pool toys, swim nappies provided, childrens high tea), and do baby listening. Alternatively will bring anything on the restaurant menu up to your room for no extra cost.

Beautiful area - close to Stratford, Broadway, Malvern Hills etc

How about here?
The NEw Forest is fab-loads to do if you feel like it and easily within your 2hr drive.
