Town/city + beach with a teenager - ideas?

Struggling with holiday plans for the summer.

Criteria is a town or city in Europe, ideally with a beach. Last year we loved Sicily (Cefalu + Ortigia) and have previously really enjoyed Soller + Palma in Mallorca. Usually like to fit in a couple of different places in one trip.

Maybe Croatia? Was looking at Split and Rovinj before realising they are MILES apart.

There's just the 3 of us (myself, DH and 14 year old DD). So any recommendations for hotels where might be other teens would be great also.

Barcelona springs to mind.

I second Barcelona, and also suggest Lisbon. Pretty cool "young" city with loads of things to do and see and some lovely beaches about 20 minutes away.

Valencia is a lovely city too. Obviously, the outskirts were badly damaged by floods last autumn, but I don't think the city itself or its beach area were damaged. Malaga is also lovely, as is Cadiz, Lisbon, Faro.

Lots of places Greece and Cyprus way would fit the criteria. Heraklion and Larnaca spring to mind.

Agree Barcelona would be a good option if you want city city, iyswim.

Malta? You could do Valletta (capital city) for shopping/city experience, and then drive 40 mins to Mellieħa for the beach and nice village. We've stayed here for Valletta, there were lots of other teenagers Hilton Malta Hotel in St Julian's (15 min drive away to city centre), there are lots of resort hotels in Mellieħa that will have other teens

I did with my parents package holidays in eighties where you spend one week in city another in beach resort. We did Athens-Loutraki and Rome-Ischia. First week studying historical sites and second week relaxing.

Ischia and Naples? Pompeii and Herculaneum followed by beach and thermal pools?

We did Lisbon and Cascais this summer, worked pretty well.
