Recommendation for cheap summer holiday with a young child

This is the first year our DC will have school holidays (in private nursery prior to this year) and I'd like to book a holiday 1-2 weeks somewhere, not too long a flight, maybe Europe but doesn't have to be, sun, pool for the DC but not too info the beach. I'm sure we'd go if there is one but I'd rather have things to do.

Please recommend some places to look at.

I've said "cheap" but there isn't a specific budget in mind so there is flexibility.

Hu Stay Birkelt in Luxembourg? Birkelt.huopenair.com. It's got entertainment for kids and adults (including a kids club), pool, numerous playgrounds, you're near a town and there are restaurants and cafes on site. Depending on the type of accommodation you choose it's reasonably priced. Average temp in July/August is around 25 degrees. It's also walking distance to Luxembourg city.

Normandy. Beautiful beaches, great food and interesting museums, also cider country if that's your tipple. Book a site with a pool and playground in the Bayeux area is perfect. My dc loved the Juno beach museum when they were small, lovely young Canadian were manning it on a special programme who explained things so well considering they were 7&5
