Anyone been to San Pedro de Alcantara region in Costa Del Sol

We (myself, husband and two children) were orginally thinking of going to Pollensa in Majorca in July but have found a good deal with a villa with own pool in San Pedro west of Marbella. Would like to know if anyone has been and if it is really lively or what. Would appreciate any help.

Thanks in advance

San pedro is a small town. It is divided by the main n340 road[busy busy], beach side and mountain side. It is well placed, near to marbella, puerto banus, estepona etc. I think it depends where your villa is , as it covers quite a large area. Let me know and I will give you a bit more info. I think you could have a nice holiday here but not if you are after a little Spanish village. There are lots of places to eat, beach bars etc. It's not Benidorm but you do get a fair few Brits. I live about 20 minutes away.

Hi Amapoleon thanks for the message. I am not actually sure the whereabouts of the villa it just says a quiet residential spot near San Pedro I have tried to contact the owner via email so hopefully she can tell me more. She said she could do 10 nights and you get use of the car for £1400 sounds too good to be true since the prices of villas we have looked at have been £1400 upwards per week. We are not sure on the area though we basically need to see some sun and it sounded like a good deal but we didn't real want it to be to like Benidorm! Thanks again for the help

My family live close by. It's really not like Benidorm - the whole of the Costa Del Sol has a lots of Brits but San Pedro's relatively balanced in that respect and a nice town with some lovely authentic Spanish restaurants and a strong Spanish community. The nightlife revolves around restaurants, rather than nightclubs. It's not as brash as Puerto Banus or Marbella and there are plenty of places to go and visit if you want to, although in July it will be pretty hot and I think lounging by the pool and going to the beach might be enough.

Thanks onceinalifetime for the advice we are so undecided as to where to go and the longer we leave it the more expensive it gets. I do worry that it will be way too hot probably so we thought if we could get 10 nights that would be plently. Hanging about the pool sounds like a great idea. I am sure it is a nice place like you say, most of the Costa Del Sol and other parts of Spain etc will be full of brits. We had considered Pollensa in Majorca too just don't know what to do . Thanks again
