Passport help

hi I’m due to travel on my own with my 11year old we have the same surname however my passport remains in my maiden name (i had just renewed it prior to spontaneously eloping and then Covid hit so never got round to changing it…. Besides that it’s expensive and I’d have lost almost a full passport)

am I going to encounter any issues at security? Starting to worry that I need to just bite the bullet and renew it, but similarly I’d rather keep it in my maiden name as I’m now divorced and I’m not sure long term what I want to do with my name just yet 🙈🤔🤪

The passport office do say that you 'must get a new passport if you change your name (for example, through marriage), gender or appearance.', and the name on your passport must match the one you use when you book your travel. So based on that I'd get a new one, or change your name back to your maiden name via deed poll (and change this on the booking too if you booked with your current surname)
