Norwegian Weird Cabin Bag Help Please

I am hoping someone will have experience of booking a flight with Norwegian?

I just booked some flights for a two night break, so intended to just take my very small cabin bag which is fine for Wizzair etc at 40x30x20.

However, their limit for free cabin bags is 38x30x20.

Firstly, I can’t find a bag online this size, and secondly it seems like a deliberate ploy to make you pay for marginally bigger carry on.

Has anyone successfully taken a 40x30x20 bag on Norwegian and got away with it?

If your bag is soft, make sure it isn't overfilled so it will fit into the gauge

If it's rigid, i'm afraid you've got a problem. Google it online to see what others have done.

Is your back hard or soft sided? If it’s soft then you could just underpack it and it should fit in the sizer. Otherwise it’s just a case of whether you think it’s worth the risk or not. When I flew Norwegian last summer (only one domestic flight) I didn’t notice anyone checking but I’d upgraded mine anyway so wasn’t looking. They’d be within their right to enforce it though, even if your flight is the only one they check and that might mean either paying extra on the day or checking the bag in the hold.

It’s a soft bag so I think I will chance it. I wouldn’t mind but it wasn’t even a cheap flight! Just the only option from my local airport to my destination.

Thanks

I did, this time last year. I flew out with klm and then changed plans and booked last-minute with Norwegian. It was a soft backpack and nobody queried it.

Is luggage in the hold free as part of your ticket ?

No. Just this very weird size cabin bag. As am only going for two nights it will be no problem space wise for packing.

I will just squish down like people suggested.

We flew with Norwegian recently and all just took the small bag. I had a couple that I knew were the correct size for Ryanair that we could squish down a bit if challenged. I didn’t see them checking any bags though and the staff seemed much nicer than Ryanair.
