Hello, me and my friends have booked a holiday to istanbul for next Tuesday my friend who is Italian and has a Italian passport just told me his passport expires on March 10th (he wasnt aware it was an issue). We would be flying from Manchester would he be allowed entry with less then 60 days if he paid a fine and we would he able to show our hotel booking and flights back ? Thanks

I thought Italians could enter Turkey with tbeir national ID instead of a passport… is that totally wrong? But since you’re flying from the UK, they’ll want a passport with 150 days left on it. That’s what you need for Turkey so your friend probably won’t be allowed to fly. You can’t just pay a fine, it doesnt work like that.

Your friend needs to look at Turkish immigration rules for EU nationals and/or the Italian 'Foreign Office' website as any correct answers posted on this thread will be hidden amongst posts from people not realising they may be different to UK passport holders, blind guesses and posts that are just made up.

Just a guess from me, but I think the fact that your Italian friend is travelling from the UK is irrelevant, what counts is his nationality and documentation.

As the friend is not a UK citizen UK rules do not apply.

The friend can use his Italian ID card to entrr Turkey.
