Costa Brava

Hello!

After posting here a few weeks ago, I've done some research and decided on the Costa Brava as the area where I'd like to book a family holiday in August (I know Spain will be hot..DH is a teacher so we have to suck that up!)

We're after a self catering villa or apartment with access to a pool. Near a beach but no probs if we'd need to drive as we'll hire a car.

Ideally, a good base to explore the coast & visit lots of nice villages & towns. I'd love to visit Barcelona for a day too.

We're two adults and 2 teenagers.

Any recommendations for a good website?

Tbh we’ve always just used booking.com or the dreaded Airbnb. It’s a popular area for locals - it’s not unusual to book a house on the CB for a month or even for the whole summer - so you might want to book sooner rather than later.

Depending on where you book you might need a car.

We haves used Haven on Earth and I can recommend. Their website lets you filter by 'can walk to restraunts' or 'walk to beach'. I would still recommend a car though as it's a lovely place to explore. We prefer northern costa brava and fly to Girona we love Begur, playa sa Riera, llfranc or if you want to be nearer Barcelona and somewhere a bit more lively consider Tossa.

Toast de Mar is a pretty town near the more 'party' town of Calella. The beach at Tossa is pebbly, not sand BTW. I'd use Booking.com and as others have said, don't be surprised if lots are already unavailable- it is popular with Spanish holidaymakers.

We used villa plus last year and I was really impressed.

They have a good choice of villas and the prices were really competitive - we had a couple of specific requests that were sorted before arrival, and a minor problem when we got there which was sorted quickly.

Oops....it appears they don't cover Costa Brava...just blanca and del sol 🙄

What about some of the big campsites - need to take another look but there will be lots of other teens / evening music etc and you can still drive / train into Barcelona
