Hi. We are thinking of going to Turkey for a few weeks in the summer. We are looking for good value, history, beach and scenery. With a 17 and 12 year old! Too much to ask? Looking for thoughts on where to go and what to do as never been and would be so grateful for tips xx

If you're looking for history and sightseeing, you might want to check the weather. Here are actual temperatures last July: https://www.accuweather.com/en/tr/antalya/316939/july-weather/316939?year=2024

I was just about to say that @DecafDodger

I know of a family who went last summer, and couldn’t leave their AC accommodation

We went to Turkey last summer and had a great time (Side) but there were a few days that we didn't attempt sightseeing.

Areas i like in Turkey are

Side
Fethiye
Bodrum
Olu Deniz

You could do a beach location and Istanbul.

Thanks so much. That's pretty hot. Will look into it more. But thanks for the suggestions so far.

Dalyan is lovely and quite a lot to do. You can get the boat or the bus to the beach. Bus takes you to a shadier quiet part. It is on the river. The turtle sanctuary is there too.

@Marcie101 Antalya is great. We stayed in Muratpasa which is a 5min taxi ride away from the town centre so we had a hotel with water slides and cliffside swimming with great local places to eat then went into town daily to stroll amongst markets, mosque and marina as well as ruins like Hadrian's Gate which was amazing. I loved having lunch in a cafe next to the old Fortress overlooking the sea.

Prices were cheaper than Lara Beach and Side as well.

One tip - make sure you check the map option when looking at hotels. They ALL say Alanya or Antalya even when they aren't actually located in those places.
