Please any suggestions? Ds2 finishes GCSE's, so we can go anytime after 23rd June. 10 days all inclusive , Dh,me, ds2 aged 16. London Airport, all inclusive, any country will do, eg Turkey, we all like heat, so want it as hot as possible , pools. Air con.

Looked at Turkey, Crete, Estonia, Dubrovnik.

Many of the deals, the reviews are so poor, sickness and diarrhoea, too cheap and terrible reviews, or just too expensive £1.5K per person, = £4.5k, which is a bit more than I was hoping to pay. I'll get some sort of good deal for under £3k, won't I?

Was hoping to get a bargain because everyone else would still be in school. Am I being unrealistic as to how cheap a deal / what a bargain I can get?

Eg I searching using 8 or 10 different sites . This comes up, but when I do Tripadvisor reviews they are very mixed.

www.libertyhotels.com/en/hotels/liberty-fabay

Oblomov25 · 26/01/2025 20:30

Thank you @MrsPositivity1. I will take a look.
I now realise my budget was too low so have increased it.

Actually the Fabaye is too much at just under £8k.

I know it's lovely but that's more than my budget.

@Oblomov25 we definitely didn't pay that. You should shop about various online travel agents and see if you can get a better deal. Is 23rd June definitely the earliest you can go? We went 19th June last year

CagneyNYPD1 · 26/01/2025 20:44

Have a look at Liberty Lykia as well. Usually a bit cheaper than Fabay.

QueenOfWeeds · 26/01/2025 20:44

@Oblomov25 isn’t contingency day 25th June this year (for OCR at least, not sure if other boards are different)? Might want to double check before you book anything!

Bristolinfeb · 26/01/2025 20:46

Don’t forget prom date too!

Oblomov25 · 26/01/2025 20:48

Oh thanks all. I'll check dates first.
I have been searching every single website I could find. Teletext, tui, on the beach, 5 or 6 more.

I've upped the budget to maybe £4K because the reviews of the cheaper ones was just too bad. Do you think that's not enough?

All the really beautiful ones have budgets of £7k+ etc.

Have you checked Canary Islands / Cape Verde? Sometimes they have good deals

sonnunny · 26/01/2025 20:50

Look at love holidays and On the beach

Oblomov25 · 26/01/2025 20:57

@sonnunny , I already have. Both of those.

have a look at the Arum Barut in Turkey. We went with Jet2

Do check about exam contingency days, prom dates and sixth form transition before you book though.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 26/01/2025 21:01

II don't think you're going to get anything decent for under 4.5k to be honest. You'll be able to get something. But whether it's food that you'll want to eat....

Yes contingency day is 25th June - that means that in the event of a major dusruption preventing an exam from going ahead it will be rescheduled for 25th June (there is also a contingency slot on 11th June). If any of your DS's exams are rescheduled for 25th and he doesn't show up due to being on holiday he will be given 0% for that exam with no leniency. They will be firm on that. Also don't most 6th forms schedule their induction/transition days for somewhere between 26th Jun - 2nd Jul? I think you should book a little later.

Oblomov25 · 26/01/2025 21:07

I've just emailed HoY to check prom date. And yes I need to think about contingency, thanks. The earliest Dh could go was 23rd.

We've never really gone in school time much before. And when ds1 went to uni, we couldn't go coz ds2 was still in school.

For the last year I've been excitedly thinking: can't wait. Finally! We get to go somewhere nice, AI, cheap, straight after ds2 finishes. In school time. Bargain!

And I bloomin love holiday searching. Judith Chalmers I am. Get bargains all the time. Majorca, Berlin, Dubrovnik.

What about Turkey Dh says. I've been searching for weeks now. Turkey prices have increased and it's not the deal it once was.

I was naieve. Thinking this was gonna be easy. Fun to look and find a bargain. I feel a bit foolish. Blush

No need to be embarrassed. We went to Turkey last October and had also been at the sane time in 2022. I was amazed how much prices had gone up in that time.

I really hope you find something. Be careful with companies like on the beach and live holidays. They often book the flights, hotel, transfer etc separately so it’s not a true package holiday which leaves you more vulnerable if there’s a problem with any part of the holiday.

clarrylove · 26/01/2025 21:16

Holiday prices have give up so much. Really hope you can find something. Can recommend Club Turban in Turkey if that helps.

It's madness, isn't it? The jump in holiday prices since Covid is ridiculous. August prices are even more eye watering. Especially for decent AI.

What about self catering? With evening meals at local restaurants? The Algarve may well be doable.

OMG don't say that - prices have sky rocketed.

MrsPositivity1 · 26/01/2025 23:19

@Oblomov25 how about 7 days from 18 June for £4,683

7 days on 21st June £4,902
7 days on 23rd June £4,986

All based on leaving from Stanstead

CoffeeCueen · 27/01/2025 09:38

The price of flights has risen, that definitely doesn’t help. My db lives in Europe and flights have doubled in price since pre Covid.

hope you find something nice OP… does it absolutely have to be AI? A hotel with a strip of restaurants nearby could be just as lovely couldnt it?

MrsPositivity1 · 27/01/2025 11:03

@Oblomov25

Try Tui Blue Palm Garden, Manavgat.

I found the food slightly repetitive but you could maybe eat out a night or 2
