Booking a holiday using Avios

I’m looking into using some of my many Avios points to book a holiday - not just flights. The BA website is as clear as mud about this, but from what I can tell, for one of their holidays we can only part pay with Avios. To pay for both flights and a hotel in full with Avios, it looks like I would have to book them separately.

Also, I don’t know if I can book a holiday with my BA Avios account with any other company.

Previously, I have only used my points for long haul flights with a companion voucher. Husband and I have traveled a lot over the years. Now that we’re older, we are into more restful, short haul trips, but I have lots of points, hence looking to pay for a (short haul) holiday with them.

All I can say is there cannot be anything as complicated as trying to book anything with avios points. A complete nightmare.

I have just paid for a flight and a hotel using some avios, and pooling DHs points. It was not an easy exercise!
Good luck with it, sorry I can't answer your questions, it's like wading through treacle

Have you tried phoning BA. We collect Virgin points and they are always very helpful when we phone.

I think you can usually pay for flight and hotel together but it's called part pay because you always have to pay cash of at least £1 - it's an anti-fraud measure I imagine. I think you could pay for the whole holiday apart from the final £1 or any amount of avios v cash split you want.

I have only used points for a flight I didn't know you could do for full holidays so following with interest. Although it would prob take me ten years to get enough points!

We didn't have that many Avios points but have used it towards a hotel stay, and it halved the price

At least your post reassures me that I’m not just being dim. 😂🤣

You’re clearly a genius. Thank you 🙂 I bet I can’t do that and use a companion voucher too, but this is a start.
