My DH and I are going to New York in April and I’d love recommendations from people who have visited in the last year. Budget up to £400 a night. We last stayed at the Plaza 10 years ago, but wow, the prices have trebled!

I’ve read so many reviews and they are so mixed! We’d prefer somewhere that does breakfast, if possible, and has a good central location. Prefer not in/near Times Square - haven’t heard good things.

Thank you.

Recently stayed at Mint House in 70 Pine St. it was fabulous. Gorgeous coffee shop for breakfast on the ground floor of the building. Although in the financial district and well downtown, it was really easy to get around by subway and ferry.

The Virgin hotel is a good location, if you can get it for a good price I would recommend. It's very new so all of the rooms are clean and new - it's close to a metro stop, 10 ish mins walk to Times Square or other areas like flat iron etc.

Yes, I was just going to suggest the Virgin hotel. We stayed there in the autumn and it was lovely, highly recommend it
