Gated pools

Any recommendations of rental villas in Italy or Portugal (or other Mediterranean country) with a child safe private pool? Needs it be minimum 3 bedrooms.

Pool needs to be gated please 🥺 I've got 3 under 5s (will be 4.5y and twins aged 14 months) and I'd just be able to relax so much more if pool was gated!

This villa in Maderia has a pool that can be fully enclosed with glass doors, so effectively fenced in Lovely 3 -bedroom villa with covered swimming pool in sunny Calheta. Calheta is a lovely area! You'd fly into Funchal Airport.

We stayed here, it was lovely!

the owners were lovely too. Very accommodating. Helped us with car hire and transfer from the airport.

Pools in France must be fenced or have another safety feature, like a cover or alarm- but tbh I’ve only ever seen fences when looking at hotels or other accommodation. If you struggle for options in Portugal, pivoting to the South of France might get you more options.

Unfortunately my parents live in south of France 50% of the year so needs to be elsewhere.

Not huge on Cyprus or Madeira - would much rather Italy or mainland Portugal ...

Thanks but I'd like an open air pool - we will be going in July so glass doors might make it unbearably hot!

Check the depth of the pool, we are staying a villa with a pool gate, but the pool would be far too deep for little ones.

With the Villa Plus website, there was an option to search for secure pools. Some of the pools weren't permanently gated but had temporary fencing put up. We opted for that one year and it was very robust. It took me most of the week to work out how to open the gate into the pool and it would have been too high for even the most determined 4.5yo to reach the catch and, even if they had, they wouldn't have the strength to manage it.
I think Villa Plus went out of business but the villas will still be there, just through a different agency.

Whilst most of the pools will be too deep for young children to stand up, having roman steps (ie wide, shallow steps) can be a real bonus as then they can play on those. Suitably supervised of course!

@NicB2016 thanks but definitely looking for private pool (my dad has a thing about privacy 🙄)
