Easter hol - where is hot?

Budget for £5-6k for a family of four. We'd like to go somewhere hot for Easter (either week of the hols, our budget probably won't stretch to 2 weeks). I don't need it blistering hot, hot enough to sunbathe and dip in the pool though!
I like either AI or self catering - I don't mind cooking but I hate being stuck in a hotel and not having the option to do that if meals aren't included.
Any recco mended destinations or preferwably hotels?

Canary Islands are hot at that time of year. Your budget will easily get you a full week, possibly two.

Will the poosls not be cold. Average temp is 23. You would need a heated pool.

We went to Tenerife in April, definitely warm enough to sunbath, I actually got sunburnt while it was partly cloudy.

You need a jumper/cardigan early in the morning and in the evenings.

The northern part is cooler, more chances of a rain shower.

You definitely need a heated pool.

Turkey, Morocco & Dubai. When we went to Dubai at Easter it was 30° so hot enough for lazy beach days and swimming.

Florida for us, doable with that budget

Have a look at flight prices to Qatar, Dubai and Oman. If affordable, that's your best bet, but imagine it could be tight to get a trip in your budget. Otherwise you are looking at Cyprus, Canaries or Morocco; specifically Agadir or Essaouira on the coast. I have seen people mention AI in Marrakech and that it was swimming warm at Easter, but obviously it's inland, no beach. I had a couple of days in Agadir, more than 20 years ago, and I think I did swim in March. Back then there wasn't too much to do in Agadir, not sure how much it has changed.

Avoid Essaouira - we were there in August and it was freezing.

I haven't got any specific recommendations but any of the Canary Islands would be very warm to hot at that time of year and there are plenty of AI or self catering options on all of them. If you want a chilled vibe and beautiful beaches then Fuerteventura is the best island. Your budget would easily get you somewhere very nice.

I've been to Gran Canaria the past few years over Easter- specifically either Puerto Rico or Puerto de Mogan (warmest and most southerly canary resorts). It's been very hot ranging from 26-36. Some lovely hotels and the pools are 'heated' though still chilly when you first get in. Stayed in the raddison and Gloria palace.

You might manage Mauritius if consider indirect flights but it's quite a long way for a week - we did 10 nights for 8k

Oman

And agadir, it's absolutely grim

This. I have been to Puerto de Mogan in Easter and it was very hot - it apparently has a little micro climate so is always warmer than the rest of the island. And the town itself is lovely. We stayed in the cordial mogan playa.

stanleypops66 · 10/01/2025 19:53

@Verite1
Definitely a micro climate. We took the bus one day to La palma city. Gorgeous in PR but about 20 minutes on the bus, it started torrential raining and was miserable. We literally got the bus back to PR and went straight to the beach.

The children and I have never had a problem swimming in the pools when I’ve been in February half term. They have always been plenty warm enough.

Pools are normally heated in Feb but most hotels only heat until the end of March. It varies between hotels
