I want to take my 10 year old away on a special holiday, we have no family support so it’s just us.
I want the following;
Great kids clubs
Nice people if possible, ie not grabby or pushy (found that recently at Center Parcs travelling on our own)
Good weather, I have a terrible weather curse!
Lots of sports and we must have a great pool with some slides.
ideally somewhere I can relax and have an adventure also but tbh the above trumps all this.
I was looking at cruises but many of their 7 night itineraries seem to be in regions where the weather might be hit and miss.
my child is neurodiverse and quiet, is naturally sporty and loves with other kids so looking for somewhere sporty, warm, inclusive really (she is mixed heritage which shouldn’t matter but it can unfortunately!).
Am I asking for the impossible?!
Budget between 2-3k for a week
thanks so much xx

I felt exactly the same last year, taking ds on holiday after his GCSEs.

In the end I went into the local independent travel agent and described what I wanted. They came up with the perfect holiday, and took away a lot of the stress.

Firstly don’t feel overwhelmed. I know many travel agents whom would be happy to support.
I too, am a single parent with a 10 year old and so I understand that the holiday needs to work for you both.

Feel free to reach out to your local self employed, personal travel consultant acting as agent on behalf of Hays Travel. I am sure they would love to support.

Would you consider Tenerife? Jet2 will do you a one-week package to a hotel that gives you unlimited access to Siam Park via coach shuttle - you could do that for several days quite happily. And you could get half board for about £2.5k depending on dates.

it might not be what you’re looking for, but you’d have easy booking and good weather and kids club. It doesn’t tick the “adventure” box but I don’t know any kid who doesn’t like Siam Park.

Neilson. Amazing kids club, watersports and lots of fitness, tennis, bikes, some locations do climbing. Solo travellers tables at lunch and evening meals if you want company. Kids club is a mix of days and afternoon/evening, so you get a night or two out if you want as well. Only downside is the cost in school holidays…..

Following from @MonopolyQueen it depends what you mean by adventure, but you could do a day trip to La Gomera from South Tenerife - La Gomera always strikes me as being a bit like Jurassic Park Grin - or go star gazing up the Volcano, or dolphin and whale watching or Paragliding (I recommend Tenerfly Tandem for the latter, had 2 great experiences with them). Loads of adventure in Tenerife if you look for it!

Lots of hotels around Costa Adeje will have the kids club and sports facilities you're looking for and you'd be really really unlucky to get bad weather.

Thanks so much for all the suggestions. I’d already been to a local agent but felt overwhelmed by the options (am also neurodivergent). I also can’t work out how to reply to individual posts but have starting looking at some of your suggestions and they look great. Neilson is coming out more reasonable than I thought. I have realised that the locations suggested by the agent weren’t really appealing to me whereas the suggestions here are making me feel excited, thank you!
