Car seat compatibility BA economy

I fly long haul often. This time I will purchase a seat for my 1 year old. I am also just about to buy a stage 1 car seat and want to make sure that it is compatible with BA economy seats...i.e the right width and secures proberly.

Can anyone tell me which stage 1 seats they have used on BA or Air Canada economy...particularly if they bought a UK model of car seat.

PS I know BA also have 'seats' that secure to the bassinette position in the bulkhead...but this is not what I'm refering to.

Grateful for any advice...don't want to spend ooodles of cash on a seat that won't also fit on a plane.

Check out seatguru.com - they tell you the width of the seats on different planes so you can check that yours will fit.

Thanks I have checked out seat guru its a good link I just wonder whether anyone has used a stage 1 car seat and which one they have used because the belt routing also needs to be right etc...any ideas? I'm thinking of buyiing the Maxi Cosi XP have people used this one?

why don't you email them from their BA site they are always very helpful.

My kids no longer fly in car seats, but when we did, we found out that airlines want to see proof that the seat is approved for airline use. So make sure it has a sticker on it that says that. I would say that about 60% of the time, someone looked to see it was approved. Can't help re width. Re belt routing - should be OK with any seat that can use a lap belt.
We used a Britax (was it freedom or something?) Don't think we bought it in UK though.
