Best areas to stay in Lisbon

Planning a city break later this year - I have been before but only briefly and not for years so hoping someone will have more up to date knowledge.

Will be 2 adults. We’d like to be fairly central and need good access to public transport. We’re not at all into nightlife / bars and one adult has slight mobility issues, so a flatter area would be preferable. I think all that probably rules out Alfama but unfortunately that seems to be the main place tourist websites recommend.

Anyone have any other recommendations?

We were in Lisbon not long ago and really baixa is the only flat bit. Some nice hotels and restaurants but very touristy. Most of the hills have elevators up to them, sometimes hidden in department stores, it's worth googling before you go. The trams on the touristy routs can be really busy with long queues.

Thanks - I was thinking about Baixa, actually.

Don’t mind it being touristy as we will be tourists.

You could stay in the alfama but close to a tram stop - I think it's the number 28(?) that would take you up and down the hills easily and reliably
