Mitsis hotels

Hi, has anyone stayed in a Mitsis hotel on any of the Greek islands and would you recommend them? In comparison to Rixos or similar.

Looking at October half term so anyone who has stayed then, can you advise if the hotels are winding down for the season and if this affects the service and food? A few people I know said their October 24 holiday to Greece was a bit crap with the hotels pretty much packing up around them and definitely don't want that! Thanks

Hi SallySoup.
We stayed at the mitsis Laguna in Crete in the October half term 2023 and enjoyed it, 10 days was perfect for us and two teens, it was plenty warm for us and didn't feel like it was winding down at all. We like the fact that the family rooms mean our teens get a proper bed each and don't have to share or be uncomfortable on a sofa bed. All inclusive means everyone eats well and the pool snack bars are great for lunches and more informal meals.
We've just rebooked for October half term this year for Blue Domes in Rhodes as we got a good deal with BA.
The Mitsis Laguna in Crete wasn't really luxe five star but it was good enough, 4+ I'd say, and we felt like we got a good relaxing break as the teens swam and ate/swam and ate on repeat and that worked for us.

Ooh one more thing, if you do book, you need to download the app and reserve the a la carte restaurants for your dinners as the buffet gets repetitive but the restaurants are great.

Mitsis Laguna a la cartes were lovely but the buffet and rooms were below par

Thanks, the 'selection' hotels are the ones I'm looking at, including Laguna and Blue Dome.

Is there a drinks service by the pool/beach? Or do you have to order at the bar?

The family rooms appealed so good to know if they are not as nice as the pictures.

Have either of you stayed somewhere you'd recommend instead for 5* all inclusive in Greece? It's not a huge difference for Ikos!

Blue Domes has gone really down hill, I would avoid during peak, you may be ok in October. The Laguna is lovely, we are black band holders for Mitsis as a result of visiting many times - we love them as they cater for families of five. The rooms in Laguna are fine - they need a bit of a refurb but nothing major. The service in Laguna is brilliant, we have been twice.

Alila is the best one in my opinion - everything about Alila was perfect.

Laguna and Alila have excellent pool service. Alila has more options for lunch - many little restaurants, Laguna more limited for lunch but lots of choice for evening.

Thanks I will look at Alila, I definitely don't want anything run down or just OK, I want excellent service and a bit of luxury in the surroundings.

Hoping to find this outside the UAE without spending more than going to the UAE, or we may as well do the longer flight..

Hi,

We stayed at the Alila in 2023. It's huge and lifts are slow so sometimes felt like it took ages to get back to the room. Really annoying if you have forgotten your book or something like that! Pool area was quite poor for the size of the hotel and my son cut his foot in the pool due to many loose tiles.
Restaurant was a bit chaotic but I agree that the a la carte options were good - if you could get a table! Table service at the bar in the evening was slow.
We had two very dated rooms with water damage in both bathrooms - burst wood and grouting etc not good at all.
It's a very expensive hotel. Reception and welcome were lovely but felt it went a bit downhill after that.
Hope this helps.

Mitis in Kos (near Kos Town) Oct half term was far too cold, pools and sea was freezing and the hotel horribly dated and dirty. I would avoid. I will never go to one again personally.

Sallysoup · 17/01/2025 22:57

Hmm OK thanks, I'm going to keep looking, I don't want anything run down or to wait ages for drinks, plenty of cheaper options for that level.

Don't stay at the Mitsis Family Village in Kos, it's grotty!

Blue Domes is lovely but it's very middle of nowhere and the beach isn't great.
