Thailand in July / rain season still worth it?

We have a very rare opportunity for 2 weeks off in summer holidays- our term times are a bit different so early July most likely & would love to go to Thailand - I know it’s rain season but would it be a write off or still worth it?

looking at Phuket / Khao lak as quieter less rowdy areas and in a resort style hotel (due to ease of mobility)
would also welcome anywhere else if better but budget beyond tight!

You would need to go to the eastern islands, Ko Samui and around. Phuket/western side is very very wet at that time. Ko Samui is ok, mixed weather but you should get some sun.

As an alternative you could look at Indonesia - Lombok for example has great weather then. Or east coast Malaysia
