Is the Mayan part of Cancun actually different to the cancun part? Old fart here, love a bit of luxury, snorkelling, sites. Not interested in boozy dancing raucous places!
Loved Turks and Caicos but can't afford that this year so am looking for cheaper options for winter sun.

I can't comment on Cancun itself, we only flew into the airport, but there are lots of lovely places within an hour or two's drive.

We stayed in Puerto Morelos which is a small and laid back and about 20 minutes from Cancun airport. We also stayed on Holbox Island which had a more Caribbean feel.

If you want more upmarket or AI there are lots of places around Playa del Carmen or Cozumel Island.

Turks has become a bit of a joke with their pricing. If you want upmarket I think you’d be disappointed with Cancun. Have you considered the Grenadines?

Yeah Turks was without doubt the most expensive holiday I've ever had. Went for a celebration birthday it was so fab it's set quite a high bar now sadly!

Will check out those other places mentioned- but sounds like Mexico cancun-ish might be possible too
