If so, what are your thoughts? Seems to be cheaper than Dubai, we are going as a family so look in for family friendly resorts and fancy being able to visit Dubai. Is this possible?
Any hotels to consider/avoid?

Yes we’ve been a couple of times and stayed in Hilton Beach Resort and the Doubletree Hilton on Marjan Island. It’s a resort holiday in a warm sunny place, good service, nothing to really do nearby. Dubai is over an hour away and the traffic can be quite bad in rush hour, it’s maybe something you’d do once but it’s too far for popping in for dinner or similar.

If you like scuba diving or snorkelling I’d take a look at Fujairah as it’s good diving.

I lived there until recently. It's a lovely place which still has calm feel but it's getting busier with developmwnt. Marjan has basically 24/7 construction going on with the casino now. So just don't put yourself too close. Not just noise, but light polution. So Pullman would be out for me.

There is a great Hilton pp mentioned on the other side of RAK. Also close to mountains (worth a trip up Jabal Jais). Cove Rotana is absolutely lovely. If you have small budget, we did BM hotel before and for the price it was good. They have BM beach resort which is great for families.

Easy and cheap place to get around if you want to.
Al Hamra heritage village is worth a visit, RAK museum too. Lots of events in winter months and lots of interesting places. Very family friendly.

Traffic to Dubai is abysmal so visit to Dubai outside of main traffic hours.

We are going next week! Looks great online, can’t wait to see it in person.
