Netherlands with teens by rail?

DC are 13 and 16 and we’re planning on heading to the Netherlands in August. We’d prefer to do it by train, but can’t work out where to go. We loved the idea of a 2 centre holiday, one week (or less!) city, one week beach or at least quieter. I’m wondering about Amsterdam and Texel or Zandvoort, and we’ve also seen a safari place with treehouses in Beekse Bergen. Does anyone have any experience of these places? Are they easy to get to by public transport and is there enough to do there?
any help really appreciated!

Texel is lovely but very quiet. Depends on your teens. If they are happy to bomb around on hired bikes and hang out on beaches, it would be a great contrast to Amsterdam.

Another possibility might be somewhere on the Hoge Veluwe national park. Close to Arnhem, which has loads of tourist attractions including Burger's Zoo, which is amazing. The park has bikes that visitors just take and ride around. You often see deer there.

Dutch trains are frequent and reliable and you can tap on and off.

Just in case anyone else is looking for advice, I wanted to come back to say we ended up going to Beekse Bergen by train then bus, and there were other families doing the same journey. Then we ended up staying just outside Amsterdam, but it was very easy to get trains and trams around to the city, the beach, and other towns. I would thoroughly recommend it. Next time I would get the Eurostar to Amsterdam.
