Family resorts in Dubrovnik

Hi,

I’m planning our first trip to Dubrovnik in mid April, we are a family of 4, two kids aged 7 and 11, will that time of the year be warm enough to swim?

Can you please recommend a resort style hotel, ideally with half board, pool, beach front and not more than 30-45 mins the Old town.

thanks

Look at all the Valamar hotels they are all together on Lapad 15 mins out of old town. We stayed at the Lacroma which I found a bit corporate but the Argosy and President are gorgeous. Also the Tirena is older but also good. Not sure how warm in April though. The Lacroma does have an indoor pool as well.

I stayed in Cavtat

Agree Valamar resorts on Lopud are closest to what you’ve asked for.

However - IME Dubrovnik is not especially child friendly, it’s pretty but there is not a lot for kids to do and it is VERY expensive and busy. Unless you need to be in Dubrovnik I would look at spending 1-2 days there max and then moving somewhere else, I’d probably pick Hvar or Korcula island. Or base yourself up the coast for the whole time and do day trip(s) to Dubrovnik. Cavtat is good for this as it has a boat shuttle.

I believe the weather is unreliable in April (may well be lovely but might not!) and the sea will definitely be cold. I would say really not swimmable without wetsuits, or a heated pool if you can find one. Sorry.

May half term weather is much more reliable but even then the sea is still a bit parky, but a lot better than April.

Can you go to the other Valamar hotels of you are staying in one of them?

We really want to swim so I may look at pushing this trip to May.
Are the beaches in Cavtat or Hvar nicer and cleared than Dubrovnik?
We really just want to go to a Resort that has it all so we can relax, but we also want to explote the old town at least one day.

You can go in and out of the Valamars you aren't meant to use the other pools but we did :)
Tirena and Lacroma also have access to an amazing kids club - 3 storeys of it! Not sure if the others are allowed there and would also check if open in April.

Ps the Sunny is slightly apart from the rest of the Valamars but think also has a beach club.

I think April would be better crowd wise, but typical April weather would be around 18 degrees, which I think is too cold for chilling around a pool for an entire week. Last year though Dubrovnik it was unseasonably warm and had days when it hit 23 in mid April. When I went, a really long time ago, we stayed in Lapad and it was an easy local bus ride into the city centre.

Sun Gardens is great for kids. About 20-30 mins from Dubrovbik. Don’t think outdoor pools will be warm enough in April, but there is an inside pool. Could you go in may instead?

Any suggestion on where to go during the Easter break that is warm (20's) and has a beach, pool, etc?
May is super expensive :(

Canaries? Anywhere else is going to be a gamble weather wise in April.
