Lake Como or Lake Garda?

2 Adults, 2 DD (17 and 21). Youngest has expressed desire to be a bit more in nature rather than a city or beach break this year. We don't drive so I thought Lake Como would provide some good walks and river activities, plus a bit of culture for me and be relatively managable without driving. Then a bit of googlng suggested that Lake Garda might be quiter and a bit less expensive.

Any thoughts from those who have been? 4/5 nights, hotel or apartment, but access to a pool would be fab, and of course lake swimming. Also willing to consider lakes in other places like Austria if viable.

Lake Como is quieter than Garda, Maggiore somewhere in between.

I haven't been yet - we're going in April to Garda as my kids are younger so will enjoy the theme parks. For quietness I've been told lake Iseo is the best one - it looks idyllic!

Lake Maggiore is my fave of the 3. Especially Stresa. Botanical gardens, Parc Pallavicino, Mottarone, boat trips etc. Hotel La Palma I recommend endlessly on here - it's not especially cheap though. Como is beautiful but there is the ROAD. I have heard good things about Lake Lugano also

Thanks for suggestions. I have found a villa and a hotel in Como, so going ponder those for now. Any more tips about what to see or do most welcome!
