Winter sun travelling alone, any suggestions?

I'm hoping to book myself a winter break in January/Feb to get some sunshine.

It's been a shit year for me, multiple deaths, serious illness, my holiday with my DH was cancelled in Sept due to him nearly dying due to a ruptured gallbladder. Many festive plans kiboshed due to flu. NYE plans cancelled due to this too. I am very, very fed up.

DH doesn't want to come, that's fine, he's Self employed but I've got a lot of annual leave to book.

Where could I go, flying from the South Coast if possible where I won't get hammered for a single supplement? I'd consider a cruise too. Never holidayed on my own so I'm a bit nervous but I desperately need some sunshine. Budget up to a 1000, or more if it's fabulous x

Saying that a cruise is very social and loads to do. You could do the canaries.

Go the whole hog and fly to Australia! Super sunny and safe

Look at holidays for Solos - it would be better value.

Any bit of the Canaries would work for you, and you may be able to go from Southampton or Bournemouth.

Cruises tend to be very expensive solo but also a good idea.

Second lanzerote.

Also, as a curve ball, Malaga is lovely at this time of the year. We are just back. We 18degrees. Chilly on a morning but sitting out weather by lunch. So safe and sociable too, fantastic atmosphere, great food and culture

Thank you all so much, I've done a couple of cruises and Lanza is somewhere I've been a couple of times and loved it. I'd love to go to Aus, is a week enough though ? Long flight for not much time. I'm looking at Morocco, solo lady traveller though. .not sure...

I’ve been to Marrakech 3 times. I went with a friend and then twice with dp. Pick a westernised hotel if possible, be sensible and you will be fine. They are mostly very respectful. We stayed at 25ciels which was great with a lovely rooftop pool and bar:

Dubai/oman/abu Dhabi worth a look?

Passion for Cruises have a big sociable FB group and specialise in solo travel, lots of people travelling without spouses, so not just singles only.

I've not booked through them but would if I could get away...

I had a day in Cassablanca when stopping off on my cruise a decade or so ago. Quite an experience, went to the Mosque which was breathtaking. I definitely want to go back but I think Marrakech would suit me better. Lots of options, thank you all for the suggestions. Definitely looking at the solo cruise thing, thanks for that x

La Palma. It’s absolutely beautiful and nothing like any of the other Canary Islands. You’d have to fly from Gatwick though.
